LIFE DRAWING
CLASSES (Thursday)
Brentwood Art Society is rare among art groups for having a regular weekly life drawing class. The sessions are untutored but those attending share their work and offer help and advice to one another. The sessions are held at the Friends Meeting House in Shenfield on Thursday evening from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm.

Life drawing is a valuable way for artists of all abilities to develop their observation, proportion and drawing skills by working directly from the human figure. Brentwood Art Society is unusual among local art groups in offering a regular weekly life drawing class, giving members the opportunity to practise in a relaxed and supportive environment.
The sessions are untutored, allowing everyone to work in their own style and at their own pace, while those attending are encouraged to share their work, exchange ideas and offer friendly help and advice to one another. For beginners, life drawing helps build confidence and a stronger understanding of shape, form and proportion, while more experienced artists can use the sessions to refine their technique, experiment with different materials and develop a more expressive personal style.
Regular practice also encourages artists at every level to work more quickly and instinctively, improving both visual awareness and confidence in drawing from observation.
